TraveNetz is the regional infrastructure provider for electricity, gas, water and heat in Lübeck and surrounding areas.
With approximately 6,780 km of network, the company ensures reliable service. Beyond its core utilities, TraveNetz also operates an advanced fiber-optic infrastructure. To sustainably enhance this, a framework agreement was established for technical operations and ongoing platform support.
Status quo
Existing fiber networks were present, but core systems like CRM (K6), ACS, ISAM, RADIUS, and LDAP lacked central management.
Updates and changes were executed manually, causing delays and inefficiencies. Middleware was static, interfaces non-standardized, and the platform urgently required a modern technical foundation. Data migration and integration remained pending.
The challenge
TraveNetz required a scalable, centralized provisioning platform for fiber network components.
Needs included automated interfaces to CRM, ACS, ISAM, SOAP/XML and REST, a user-friendly web UI for master data administration, standardized processes for updates and incident management, and migration of existing Oracle data and ongoing VM operation with monitoring.
The solution
CONVOTIS, together with TraveNetz, implemented the fiber-based provisioning platform “tePP”.
Central to this is a REST API for CRM integration and a web UI for master data administration. Interfaces with ACS enable automated modem configuration, while SOAP/XML services handle ISAM integration for XGS-PON control. Oracle-legacy data was migrated into tePP, and CONVOTIS now operates VMs and supports incident resolution.
The result
With tePP and REST/SOAP middleware, TraveNetz now operates a unified platform enabling automated provisioning and standardized handling of updates and outages.
Data migration optimized record accuracy. The new web UI enhances daily operations, while VMs and systems are continuously managed by CONVOTIS. The solution provides a durable, scalable foundation for future fiber technologies.
