The association of cities "DIE HANSE" brings together over 190 cities historically linked through Hanseatic membership.
It promotes cultural heritage, fosters European exchange and supports tourism cooperation. To present shared content, events and information in a user-oriented way, a modern platform was developed that meets today’s design and functional standards for both citizens and international visitors.
Status quo
The previous website had outdated technology and limited usability.
Information on Hanseatic cities, events and tourist offers was difficult to find and manually maintained. Accessibility and multilingual support were insufficient.
A scalable, user-focused solution was needed to present the League’s information effectively and support its members digitally.
The challenge
The new platform needed to be barrier-free, multilingual and easy to navigate.
Features included a content management interface for events and points of interest, interactive maps, a structured search with filters, and an intranet with role-based permissions for city members. The CMS had to support decentral content editing and consistent multilingual publishing.
The solution
CONVOTIS developed the new platform based on Sulu CMS, featuring a multilingual, accessible layout and structured content presentation.
Integrated tools include interactive maps (Leaflet), an event calendar, tourist offers, and a search function with section filters. An internal intranet supports role-based file access and streamlined member communication.

With improved structure, filterable search and an integrated intranet, the platform enhances tourism, usability and collaboration across member cities. Central content maintenance and scalable architecture ensure long-term relevance.
